Dedicated Tannery complex which will consist of a central effluent treatment plant
would be accredited with ISO 14000. This facility would be the first in S E Asia.
Availability of highly trained technical expertise.
Tannery:- Tannery Located in Colombo is the largest in Sri Lanka. It was designed and installed
by experts from Czechoslovakia. It produces both Chrome and Vegetable tanned Leather.
The installed capacity of the Tannery is 5 million sq.ft. of Leather per annum.
The Tannery manufactures high quality Leather using locally available Cow and Buffalo hides,
Goat skins and imported Wet blue hides. Over 50 % of the production is exported as Leather and
finished Leather products.
Factory:- CLPL is the pioneer in the manufacture of Leather footwear in Sri Lanka, under the
popular brand name “ DI ”. The combined capacities of both shoe factories are half a million pairs of
footwear per annum. About 10 % of the footwear production is exported to Japan and Netherlands. The two
factories manufacture a wide variety of shoes ranging from heavy duty Boots and delicately hand crafted
comfort shoes for the Japanese and European markets.
